Exciting speakers for Badger Trust Event in July

Badger Trust Event in July 24

Badger Trust Symposium – Leamington Spa all day on Saturday 6 July

Badger Trust is excited to announce two leading veterinarians concerned with animal welfare as speakers at their Badger Symposium on Saturday 6 July in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire.

As part of an exciting and informative programme of events Dick Sibley will be speaking in the morning, and after lunch the keynote speaker will be Dr Alice Brough.

We all know the terrible impact badger culling has had on the badger population so we have invited a leading vet working on it at source – in cattle.   94% of bovine tuberculosis (bTB) is spread from cattle to cattle so we need as a country to get to grips with it in the cattle herd.

Dick Sibley is one of the leading vets working on cattle bovine tuberculosis – he focuses on dealing with the disease in cattle directly and has had success in Devon in keeping bTB from herds.  He will talk about what is needed to deal effectively with bTB in cattle and his focus on a more robust testing programme and other cattle-based measures.  Dick is one of the leading experts in the country on bTB in cattle and, until recently, was on the government’s TB partnership.  Dick will speak in the morning on what really needs to happen on cattle bTB.

Our keynote speaker in the afternoon is Dr Alice Brough. Alice is an inspirational speaker who formerly worked as a pig vet and has first-hand knowledge of the farming industry. She will discuss what she has learned from her work and how we should treat animals going forward to preserve the natural world. She is a passionate campaigner and will add her feelings on ending the badger cull.  Alice is a speaker you shouldn’t miss if you want to feel inspired to keep working for animals.

Tickets for the Symposium are available for everyone who has an interest in badgers, their health and their ecology – get your ticket and more information here:https://www.badgertrust.org.uk/symposium
